It’s a short 4 hour drive from the big city lights of Nairobi to the big country sites of Amboseli National Park – think mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro and majestic herds of elephants. This park lies at the foot of Africa’s tallest mountain and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. Its famous form watches over the park and all its wildlife – four of the “Big Five” are found here. So, join us on safari to Kenya’s second most popular park with this quick, easy 2-day adventure. We’re happy to arrange last-minute bookings – just tell us you’re ready and we’ll make it happen!

There’s plenty of reasons Amboseli is such a popular park – we’ve already mentioned the photographic presence of Kilimanjaro, but did you know that this park may be the best place in Africa, if not the world for viewing free-ranging elephants?  The light terrain of the park combined with the great numbers of elephants here guarantees you will see them as they parade in their imposing herds.

Places You’ll See :

Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses savannah, lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. It's also home to wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos. From Nairobi, the capital, safaris visit the Maasai Mara Reserve, known for its annual wildebeest migrations, and Amboseli National Park, offering views of Tanzania's 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Schedule Details

Day 1

Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (240 km: Approx. 4 hrs drive)

07:30 hrs. – Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Nairobi airport. Hop into the 4 x 4 for the beginning of your journey to Amboseli Park along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road. Along the way, we’ll take in the African sun rising over the savannah. Look for local homesteads and the Maasai herdsmen in their colorful wraps, tending to their cattle.

Day 2

Amboseli – Nairobi: 240 km: 4 hrs drive

We’ll be up at the safari dawn to catch the wildlife as if first enters the new day. This pre-breakfast game drive is a special time to take in the park as the first light brings color to the savannah and its stirring inhabitants. After breakfast at our accommodation, we’ll set out for a mid-morning drive to see how many more of the large and small wildlife we can track. If you haven’t spotted them already look for hyena, jackal, fox, monkey, and baboon. And of course, the big game, with whom they share this wonderous place of nature. Lunch will wrap up our Amboseli experience before we head back to Nairobi. You’ve experienced a lot of Africa in just two days with plenty of memories and stories to bring back home.

Suggestions on things to bring

GENERAL SAFARI PACKING

  • Bright summer clothes for safari tour (Strong colours can attract unwanted attention from flies found in certain areas of the parks). Laundry is cheap and available, so do not pack much in terms of clothes
  • Fuller clothes for evenings at the hotel and lodge, such as long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect you against mosquitoes after sunset and, if necessary, against the sun
  • A jacket/sweater, as it can be cool in the early morning and evening
  • Summer Footwear (e.g. sports shoes and cotton socks). Avoid walking on bare feet and or leaving your legs naked at night due to mosquitoes
  • Power adapter with 3-4 sockets – this enables a shaver, trimmer, electric toothbrush and any batteries to be charged via a single adapter
  • Small flashlight and extra batteries
  • Hat that shields against the sun
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm
  • A mosquito/insect repellent for example
  • Nail clippers and file
